18 Apr My Prayer
I’m having a hard time in my prayer life these days. My love for our Lord hasn’t diminished, I completely trust in the sovereignty of God, and I am certain that not a hair on the heads of those I love will perish if it is outside of God’s will.
For some time now, God wakes me in the middle of almost every night to pray, but I’m struggling. I don’t know what say so I go through the ACTS method; A-adoration, C-confession, T-thankfulness, S-supplication. I’m going through the motions, my mind drifts, I get overwhelmed by the mess our world is in, there is oh so much to pray for. But then the Holy Spirit helps me through my weakness, interceding for me. A thousand times (ok maybe not a thousand), I’ve thanked God for giving us His Word. Through His Word, He has tucked His promises in my heart and so I don’t feel shame in my struggle. How He must love us, that He gave us this way to know Him.
There is one short prayer that comes to me daily and starting right now I’ll say it out loud each day. Will you join me? My dear Heavenly Father, will you mark the doorposts of our homes so that this terrible disease will not strike us. Protect our church family, extend that protection to those we love, especially our family members who don’t know You. I ask this in the precious name of your son Jesus. Amen.
