how to pray

“To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”

This quote is attributed to the reformer Martin Luther. Prayer is a means of grace and, as this quote explains, something crucial and essential to the Christian life. But few doctrines are as misunderstood as the doctrine of prayer.

In this six-week course, we will explore, from Scripture, how to have a life of prayer. We will begin by examining the prayers of important biblical figures including Jesus himself, establishing Him as our ultimate model. The lessons then explore prayer as a reflection of our dependence on God, a vehicle for gratitude and worship, and a path to intimate communion. The study also highlights prayer as an act of obedience and submission to God’s will, explaining how the three persons of the Trinity are involved. Ultimately, it is argued that a life of prayer does not change God, but profoundly transforms us, leading to a deeper relationship with Him and a life of greater holiness.

If you desire to develop an effective prayer life, don’t miss the opportunity to learn and practice prayer aligned with God’s word.

Class starts Sunday, January 11th during second service in Sam’s office. Cost is $5.

How To enjoy the spiritual disciplines

Join us for “How to Enjoy the Spiritual Disciplines”. We’ll be spending six sessions together learning how to worship, cherish, and know the Lord through the primary disciplines of the Christian life. We’ll be looking at quiet time, Scripture intake, prayer, giving, and fellowship. This class will combine practice and guidance for Christians of all levels. This class will be taught by Tom Gee and will begin on Sunday, January 11th during the second service at 11:15am in room 002b.  Tom has been a believer for 46 years, 30 of those married to Evelyn.  He has served in various ministries across churches, and is delighted to have joined Redemption these last two years, where he and Evelyn lead a small group in Ingersoll.

Cost is $5. Bring a Bible and a pen.
