Baptism by immersion is an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus, identifying with His death, burial, and resurrection.
What is Baptism?
We believe that Christian baptism by immersion is a public identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
Although baptism is not required for salvation, it is commanded of all believers and is for believers only. Redemption does not baptize children.
Preparing for Baptism
Baptism is an exciting step of obedience and faith. Before you’re baptized, here are a few things to know and prepare.
Follow Jesus
Before being baptized, you must first repent of your sin and believe in Jesus.
Share your Decision
If you’ve put your faith in Jesus, tell a mature Christian who can encourage you, help you as you grow in your faith, and walk alongside you as you follow Him.
Fill out the Application Form
Fill out the baptism application form found at the bottom of this page and we’ll be in touch.
Attend our Baptism Class
Register for and complete the Understanding Baptism Class, a required step for baptism at Redemption. Note: participants must be 13 years of age or older.
Write out your Testimony
Your salvation story is a brief account of how Jesus saved you and how He has worked in your life since, which you’ll share before your baptism. Don’t let this step intimidate you—our staff are happy to help you write this out.

Why do we baptize?
In short, we baptize because we are commanded to in Scripture. We believe that Christian baptism by immersion in water is a public identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Although baptism is not required for salvation, it is commanded of all believers and is for believers only.
(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38, 41; Acts 18:8).
Who should get baptized?
If you have professed faith in Jesus Christ, you should be baptized. At Redemption, we normally ask parents to wait until their kids get to the age of 13, just to ensure that the children are old enough that they are making their own statement of belief in Christ. We don’t have an exact age and we do leave the final decision with the parent, but we would push back pretty firmly on one younger than 13.
Who can I be baptized by?
If there has been someone instrumental in your faith journey who you would like to baptize you, we would encourage that. We would require that this person themselves be a follower of Christ and also have been baptized. If you don’t have anyone specifically that you would like to baptize you, then one of our pastors will baptize you.
Why full immersion baptism?
It is clear from the context of the passages describing baptisms, from the sense behind the symbolism, and from the meaning of the single word used, that believers were baptized by immersion in water. Therefore, in seeking to follow the teachings of Scripture, in both the original language of the New Testament as well as the practices discussed in its accounts, when you proceed with baptism at Redemption Bible Chapel, you will be dipped completely under water.
What happens at a baptism service?
You will receive instructions ahead of time from our team on where to go and what to bring. Participants will have a brief meeting before the service starts to go over all the logistics. Then, when it’s time for the baptisms to start, participants will enter the tank one at a time and read their testimony, and then be baptized.
