HERNANDO MEDINA

Pastor of Hispanic Ministries

Starting a new life in a new country, with no English, no economic resources and with 4 children is impossible unless you do it with God by your side. On October of 2000 I came to Canada with my wife Libia, our four children: Laura, Luis, Juan and Liby and my foster sister Nohemy. The support of my wife with whom I married in 1979 has been fundamental in my walk with the Lord. In addition, the Lord has blessed us with five beautiful grandchildren and expect many more.

I studied Business Administration, specializing in Finance in Colombia, where I managed my own construction company. From the business world, I came to know more about our creator and the real meaning of life. In Canada I had the opportunity to disciple for 18 months with the Heart Cry Ministry organization of Pastor Paul Washer, studied evangelism at Moody Church in Chicago, and then went on to evangelism training with Living Waters in the city of Los Angeles. In 2015, with desire to serve the Lord for the rest of our lives, the Lord allowed for me to go to Dominican Republic to study Theology where I received my Theological Studied diploma from the Reformed Baptist Seminary of South Carolina through the Ministerial Academy of Grace. Currently I am studying Bible counselling at Faith Community Church in order to obtain my ACBC certification.

The Lord Came into our lives on August 31, 1995 and has allowed many things during our Christian journey. A preaching by Paul Washer changed the course of our lives and the meaning of what the gospel is. In October 2010, a group of around 35 Hispanics arrived at Redemption Bible Chapel after hearing a sermon by Pastor Norm based on John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands” and since that date we have been serving the Lord in the Hispanic ministry. Our desire is to live the last years of our life serving the Lord, and by the Mercy of the Lord I was called to be a part of our church’s staff in February 2019.

Being an instrument in the Hands of our Creator, is something undeserved, but only his grace, his love, and mercy make us ambassadors of the Lord in order to share the Good news of Salvation and bring consolation to the broken souls.

2 Corinthians 5:20 “[20]Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
